Position: Housing Help Desk Student Assistant

Position overview
The Housing and Residence Life Student Experience Team is looking for student staff to support Housing Help Desk Operations. Housing Help Desk student assistants will provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and other stakeholders that contact the Housing Help Desk. This role is perfect for someone looking to build confidence in their communication, emergency response, and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities
Respond to student, staff, and other stakeholder inquiries in a fast-paced environment using customer service software.
Communicate effectively with students and families in person and via phone, email, and chat.
Utilize problem solving skills and resource knowledge to resolve residents’ concerns.
Follow up with HRL staff to ensure issues are resolved in full and close help desk tickets.
Help students navigate Housing and Residence Life website, housing application, and maintenance request system.
Assist in planning and implementing HRL wide resident info sessions and “pop-up” events.
As the newly formed unit in Housing and Residence Life (HRL), First-Year Wellness and Engagement works to increase first-year awareness and engage in on-campus resources and support. Specifically, First-Year Wellness and Engagement coordinates Georgia Tech’s Week of Welcome programming and leads the First-Year Wellness Experience (FYWE). Driving the inclusion of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness framework into the entire continuum of the first-year experience, the goals of this unit are for every student to transition to Georgia Tech through Week of Welcome programming that facilitates their success and that each first-year student learns, increases their knowledge about, and applies at least one skill in each of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
Job Overview
This part-time position will support unit efforts with administrative, creative and logistical tasks of the FYWE program and Week of Welcome, a week-long event for all new students. This role will collaborate with staff inside Housing and Residence Life and many campus partners across the Division of Student Engagement and Well-being and larger campus community. Two positions are available and report to the Project Support Specialist Sr. This role will pay between 12-15 dollars per hour.
Job Responsibilities
Communications and Content Creation:
-Create well-being and Week of Welcome content for monthly resident newsletters and social media (Housing and Residence Life Instagram). Video editing skills are preferred but not required.
-Participate in client meetings and subcommittees
Administrative and Logistics Tasks:
-Assist with administrative tasks for unit’s major programming (First-Year Wellness Experience and Week of Welcome)
-Support large-scale programming event logistics including space reservations
-Research swag items for unit programs
-Oversee and respond to inquiries in shared email inboxes
-Provide low-level technology support such as edits to systems such as the Guidebook app (used for Week of Welcome) and GT Engage, our campus platform for student event tracking
Requirements
-Must be in good standing (academic, conduct, financial) with the Institute.
-Must be enrolled in at least six hours of summer classes.
-No additional student staff positions held for the duration of employment.
Hours/Schedule
This position will begin on May 5, 2025 and run through August 22, 2025. Should you wish to continue the position past August 22 on a regularly scheduled basis 20 hours a week or less, that will be an option. From May-July, hours will likely fall between 9 am and 5 pm averaging about 20 hours a week. For August, evening and weekend work will be necessary to support Week of Welcome initiatives with up to 40 hours of work required. No time off will be approved for the month of August.

Support the development and execution of social media campaigns across multiple platforms. Create engaging content, track metrics, and assist in community management.
Assistants will work with ISyE Comms, and other teams (MSA Program, Center for Academics, Success, and Engagement (CASE), Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), etc).
- Responsibilities:
o Develop daily/weekly content for social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) – Enhancing our social media presence to foster student interaction and engagement.
o Schedule content while monitoring media conversations and scale engagement with audiences.
o Analyze engagement data and suggest strategies for improvement.
o Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices.
o Collaborate with the various committees to plan, organize, and execute events that promote community and involvement among students.
o Ability to connect with and interview students, faculty, and staff for school events.
o Support logistics for events, including setup, coordination, and follow-up; staffing the reception desk, assisting professional education students, and handling campus deliveries.
- Additional Qualifications:
o Photography: ability to take high-quality photos using a smartphone or DSLR camera.
o Social Media Management: Experience in coordinating, and scheduling content in app/systems
o Trend Awareness: knowledge of current social media trends, emerging news, and digital practices
o Campus Knowledge: Has experience working with faculty/staff, and actively knows/understands ISyE programs, services, buildings, etc.

As a student member of the RCF team, you will participate in improving our documentation (https://gatech.service-now.com/technology?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0042503) by creating new pages and updating existing ones with new information. Another project is the restructuring our main website (https://pace.gatech.edu), to optimize the presentation of the general information about our high-performance computing resources to the research community of Georgia Tech and other universities. Along the way, you will develop expertise in research computing while working on a supercomputer in collaboration with PACE’s research scientists.
